What to know about Team USA in the FIBA World Cup: Schedule, format, roster and more

August is rapidly coming to a close, which means football season is coming back and basketball fans are in hiding until October.
Well, not so fast.
Some of the top basketball players in the country will compete in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, which tips off Aug. 25. The games will take place across the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, and the tournament will be played through Sept. 10. The top basketball players from around the world are fighting for a World Cup championship.
The United State lost to France in the quarterfinals of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, snapping a streak of two consecutive World Cup championships. But, with a reshaped roster and coaching staff, there's optimism that the U.S. can come out on top.

When does Team USA play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup?
All of USA's group stage games will be played in the Philippines. Only the group stage schedule is available.
Saturday, Aug. 26: U.S. vs. New Zealand at 8:40 a.m. ET
Monday, Aug. 28: U.S. vs. Greece at 8:40 a.m. ET
Wednesday, Aug. 30: U.S. vs. Jordan at 4:40 a.m. ET
Where to watch Team USA during the FIBA Basketball World Cup
All of Team USA's Group Stage games will be available on ESPN2. Games can also be streamed on the ESPN App or ESPN+.
What is the format of the FIBA Basketball World Cup?
There are two rounds of group play with the second round determined by the standings of each group. Only the top two seeds of each group will face off for spots in the quarterfinals. The rest of the teams are in a classification group.
It's a knockout round format the rest of the way until a champion is crowned in the final game.

The Golden State Warriors' Steve Kerr is the head coach. His staff includes the Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra, Los Angeles Clippers' Tyronn Lue and Gonzaga Bulldogs men's basketball coach Mark Few.

Team USA has come out on top five times, with its most recent championship in 2014.
